Research

Since February 2018 I work as a Data Scientist at Booking.com. I was a post-doc in Web Information Systems group at the Delft University of Technology, where I worked on human aided bots, quality control in crowdsourcing, and context-based music recommendation. I am a member of EIT Digital Doctoral School and I hold a PhD in Computer Science from UNITN in Italy. My academic work is about improving quality control in microtask crowdsourcing. Among other conferences and journals the contributions were published also in ACM Computing Surveys, ACM CSCW, AAAI HCOMP and IEEE Internet Computing. I was a visiting researcher at Appen (past CrowdFlower) in San Francisco in 2013.

Research Community
Business

In 2016 I cofounded Univerius SRLS where we provided direct observation experience of the Moon, the Sun and planets of the solar system in Italy. Before I cofounded and in the beginning acted as the CTO of Codesign – the simplest feedback tool. More than 8000 people use this service to discuss their websites, design mockups and presentations. In 2015 I was accepted to Entrepreneur First startup incubator in London (though refused to accept the offer). I acted as the CTO of SmartWall in 2013, where we provided a way to generate live feeds of social activity to be displayed during events (we failed to grow). With the project Showitme in 2012 we won the first place at the local startup competition InnovAction lab in Trento. When I was 21 years old (2008), together with 2 hired employees, we provided paid demonstrations of the Moon via telescopes to more than 4000 in my hometown Ufa (Russia). When I was 19 I was selling job offers to students joining Work&Travel program in the USA.

Open-source

I am the author of Javascript plugin Social-feed, which helps to display posts on websites from various social networks. It has 800+ stars/250+ forks on Github and got a community of people contributing to its code base. As a part of my research activities I have implemented ReLauncher, which helps to speed up the execution of microtasks on crowdsourcing platforms, such as Appen, several times. Before I have implemented a mobile crowdsourcing platform CrowdCafe, which has a public source code.
